As a result of the Policies Development Process and the consensus reached during the last Open Forum discussion about LACNIC policies, that took place in Guatemala City on May 25-26, LACNIC Board has ratified the implementation of the following four policies:

LAC-2006-02 Resource Recovery

The objective of this policy is to observe the good use of the Internet resources in the region. This new criterion clarifies the cases and specifies the steps that LACNIC should follow in order to recover the Internet numeric resources that according to this policy are considered without use. The LACNIC Staff will shortly announce the date when this policy implementation begins. LACNIC recommends maintaining the information updated about all the assigned resources to yours organizations.

LAC-2006-03 Additional Allocations Size

The additional allocation size of the IP addresses is related to the necessities of the 3 following months of operation. This policy changes the reference from 3 to 12 months to allow the allocation of bigger IP addresses blocks therefore a better network design of the interested organizations will be achieved. LAC-2006-04 ASN 32 Bits

LAC-2006-05 HD Ratio IPv6 Modification

The allocation of additional blocks of IPv6 addresses it is evaluated in terms of the good use of the previous allocations. This good use it is based on a formula calculation which its result it is called HD Ratio. The acceptable value of the HD Ratio for the additional blocks allocation changes from 0.8 to 0.94. This change will allow a better optimization and utilization of the IPv6 blocks already allocated. The policy details can be revised in
