LACNIC is pleased to announce the installation in its offices in Montevideo of an IPv6 training lab for technicians working in our region.
This has been possible thanks to the donation of equipment by Cisco Systems within the framework of the European 6DEPLOY-2 project, with which the laboratory has been set up. The IPv6 training lab will be available for remote use during the IPv6 training workshops presented by LACNIC in the region, by 6DEPLOY project consortium partners anywhere in the world, and even by the rest of the community prior request and approval through the 6DEPLOY website.
These training labs can be accessed remotely for performing hands-on exercises on routing and configuration.
This IPv6 lab is the second installed in the region by the 6DEPLOY project and LACNIC; the installation of two additional labs is expected in the near future, one in Buenos Aires and one in Santo Domingo.
6Deploy is a project funded by the European Union to provide IPv6 training and support for deployments to network operators, service providers and industry throughout the world. The project offers not only the direct training of engineers and network administrators, but will also transfer knowledge and best practices on the subject to other trainers, who can then use the material to teach others. LACNIC, along with other entities is part of this project since 2008.
