LACNIC will offer financial assistance for conducting a limited number of events that will contribute to Internet development and stability within the region of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).
Those organizations interested in receiving financial assistance for an event to be organized during 2012 must complete the form and send it to proyectos@lacnic.net, filling out the required fields before WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 28, 2011 (19:00 UTC). Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
LACNIC will publish the list of the initiatives that have been selected on MONDAY FEBRUARY 13, 2012. LACNIC reserves the right to select the initiatives it considers most appropriate for receiving financial support, and is not obliged to justify the results of this selection in any way. Depending on the number of applications received and the resources available, LACNIC reserves the right to approve contributions lower than those requested, which will be duly agreed with the applicants.
Selection Criteria
Events must focus on the general subject o Internet Governance (access, development, innovation, liberties) and may be conferences, seminars workshops or training courses. The activities must be conducted during 2012 in any of the countries or territories within the region covered by LACNIC.
LACNIC will not provide financial assistance to long term research and/or investigation projects, participation in events, or publications.
Those initiatives that already received assistance in 2011 may nominate themselves once again for 2012 by presenting a brief report on the activity carried out with LACNIC's support. A sample report can be downloaded here.

The financial assistance granted by LACNIC cannot be the only source of funding for the event under consideration.
The financial assistance will be transferred once the activity and the date on which it will take place are confirmed.
Winning candidates agree to send a brief report of the event once it is held. A sample report can be downloaded here.
