The Regional Fund for Digital Innovation in Latin America and the Caribbean – FRIDA – announces the opening of its 2007 Summons (www.programafrida.net) and invites regional research organizations to present Projects seeking to be financed through the fund.
Research projects must focus on the development and exploration of innovative technologies (such us IPv6, WiFi, Wi-Max, VoIP and others), building capacity, access problems, interconnection, e-government, Internet Governance and institutional frameworks; and its influence on the design and application of public policy that enable the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) at the service of the region’s development.
The summons is addressed to organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean that develop research in the different fields of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and require complementary financial support to execute their projects.
The deadline to submit proposals for FRIDA 2007 Summons is Monday 21st of June, 2007 at 16 Hs of Uruguay (-3UTC).
The aim of FRIDA is to strengthen the regional capability of developing research and its impact on the design of public policy in the different fields of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), using the competitive fund for projects as its essential instrument.
FRIDA is a regional initiative made up by the contributions of the International Development Research Center (PanAmericas/IDRC), the Institute for Connectivity in the Americas (ICA), the Internet Society (ISOC), the Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP) and the Latin American and Caribbean Internet Addresses Registry (LACNIC) which is also the manager of the Program.
