LACNIC announced a reduction in annual membership fees ranging from 5 to 15%. This important information was provided by Raúl Echeberría, Executive Director of the organization, during his presentation before the LACNIC Annual Member Assembly, in his annual 2005 Corporate Social Responsibility report, on Thursday, May 25, in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

While a reduction ranging from 5 to 15% was approved for the normal fees of certain member categories, it was decided to grant for an indefinite period of time, starting on October 1st, 2006, a 50% discount on LACNIC membership and services fees for non-profit non-government organizations that, as determined by LACNIC, may be considered End Users.

In the case of Internet numbering resources, IP addresses and/or ASNs, discounts will be applied if the organization receiving the resources is a non-profit organization and only if said resources are or will be utilized for non-profit services.

This resolution was decided during LACNIC's Ordinary General Assembly, which met on May 25 in Guatemala City, with the unanimous approval of all members in attendance. The most important Latin American and Caribbean Internet operators participated in this meeting.

As you may remember, the Latin America and Caribbean Regional Internet Address Registry (LACNIC) is the organization that administrates IP address space, Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs), Reverse Resolution, and other resources for the region of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) in representation of the Internet community.
